Trauma is an emotional or physical response to a life threatening event that overwhelms an individual and affects their ability to cope. It can negatively impact their self-concept and trigger feelings of hopelessness and helplessness simultaneously. In some cases, trauma can inhibit a person’s ability to feel a healthy range of emotions and life experiences.
Examples of incidents that may cause trauma include:
Exposure to, or threatened, death, violence, or sexual assault (APA, 2013).
Mindfuli provides trauma-informed care which includes a commitment to the 4 R’s: Realization that trauma is widespread, Recognizing the symptoms of trauma, Responding to trauma, and Resisting re-traumatization (SAMHSA, 2014). Mindfuli provides social, emotional, and crisis support. Interact with your therapist or counselor through chat or real-time video. We provide you support Mon-Fri, 8AM-Midnight (PST). In addition, weekly scheduled sessions with a designated care counselor provide a safe space for client’s to express the trauma they’ve experienced at their own comfort and to work together to develop a plan to heal and maintain mental wellbeing. Licensed clinical support can be added to a client’s care team to develop a specific treatment plan to help address the negative effects of trauma. Mindfuli also tracks client progress towards mental wellness through the use of routine standardized assessments of depression, anxiety, and personal wellbeing.
